Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a hostile location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight players to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.
