Individual admits sex offences targeting young males at youth camp
A person who spiked treats with sedative and provided them to minors at a youth camp in the area has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two young males both between nine and ten.
The accused was detained after eight youngsters and a grown-up fell ill at the location in the summer month.
The elderly man, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he stood at the judicial center on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail before a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he operated.
The defendant engaged in a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would go into the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the man had engaged in this activity with the young males "for many years", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.
She said Ruben had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had concerns in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "This year his family member had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to examine in the man's possessions."
The prosecutor stated items including lubricant, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson alerted the police about his worries.
She explained Ruben proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
Mrs Prior said the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the family member notified the law enforcement again.
She said Ruben then conducted the "candy game" in a room of five children.
