19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev secured his initial championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial trophy following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet defended four initial break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
